McLeish out at Villa?

Remember when it was us and them in the race for Champions League football? Feels like yesterday Young scored that goal in injury time, but it was actually 3 (and the rest) years ago. I think the demise of Villa in recent seasons shows just how quickly it can happen.

T'is right that mate....

RAWK is on fine form today - heres this gem from their own "McLeish sacked" thread:

Rafael's standing (in my opinion) is such that he can cherrypick opportunities as they arise. I don't see an enormous amount of ambition within the current structure at Villa and as such I can't envisage for a moment that Rafael would choose to manage such a shambles.

After tasting the dizzying heights of the Champions League and the top of the league table, I'm not sure scrambling around looking for a draw away at Swansea would hold much allure.

It'll be one of those silly situations where Villa will take a manager from those around them in the table, and that club will take on the next manager to be sacked.

:D

I had loads of fun at work this afternoon winding up all the Norwich fans about Lambert going to Villa.

Some suit from the Norwich board (McNally i think) said they are doing all they can to keep Lambert. And Lambert, when asked yesterday refused to pledge his future to Norwich.

Very good post.

I know historically Villa are a bigger club than Norwich, but if Norwich can stay in the Premier Legaue for another season or two, they have a decent chance of 'kicking on', whereas Villa are millions in debt and that only looks like increasing, plus won't have much to spend to add to what is a very ordinary squad. At the moment Norwich are possibly in a better situation than Villa. Which is quite sad as Aston Villa are the 'big' club of the country's second city.
