'We're not creative enough, we're not positive enough'

Trevor Brooking there before Euro 96... What's changed?

Well for England, Trevor, not a great deal.
I may have been a little smashed before the Italy game (these late kick offs will be the death of me by the way) but I don't think it's far wrong to say the better team won.
Were England more creative? Probably. Were England more positive than in recent years? Maybe. But what does that matter? England lost against a better team.

As for him, and a few others actually, they need to book their ideas up. Rooney on the left? Jesus wept. Gerrard and Henderson doing nothing. Great. And as much as Baines wasn't helped out very much, he didn't help himself out much either. Was I annoyed though? Not really. Pretty much went as expected. Italy aren't crap. England are pretty average and played like it.
Raheem Sterling and his 1980's party hair was decent, not as decent as everyone banged on about though, and our very own Jags came looking pretty good. So it's onto the next.

Uruguay next. Fresh from an absolute pasting by a Paulo Wanchope and Oviedo Baby-less Costa Rica. It was a weird result. A bloody weird result. As an England fan it left me feeling great seeing Uruguay torn a new one, but then equally made me think, 'woh hang on, maybe Costa Rica aren't that bad'.

Surely if Costa Rica can do that England can do the same. HAHAHAHA. No.
If one thing is certain in life it's that banking on England is never a good idea. As Evertonians we are aware that expecting to win never goes well.
And this guy is back....

We all hate him. For so many reasons. But by god he's good. Mix him with Cavani and boom, Uruguay look bloody good again.
The hope that Suarez might not last may be a little forlorn for England fans. Diego Forla(r)n in fact, as I'm sure it'll be him to come on if the toothy one breaks down.
Not much comfort there. Maybe a little hope in that captain Lugano is utterly mince with Diego Godin having to do loads of work to make up for this.

Look if you hate England fine. But just remember this yeah...

CHEATING SWEAR WORD

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out how England will line up. Steven Gerrard should be dropped. There's no blue tinting there, he's been poor and was poor against Italy. He won't be dropped though. We all know it. The only change I can for see is Rooney going Central and Sterling going wide. I'm just ok with that. But by god Rooney and the bald patch need to turn up. It's been too long.

Will Roy grow a pair? Nope.

As for our Leighton, a little aggression and actually being allowed to play to his strengths wouldn't go amiss. I call on him to embrace the spirit of Psycho to urge him on.....but then not go into one of the most underwhelming management careers known to man when he's finished playing.

First?

Confirmed! Smashin!!

England to win, Suarez is well out of form and will be a picture of frustrated bluster and diving trying to pull a fairly ordinary side through a game against better opponents than the Italy game suggested. Also they are missing their lucky caramel.
England will impose their attacking style from the off and it should work early against his lot and with less humidity will dictate the game. There'll be a few scares, it wouldn't be England otherwise eh? But we'll take this.

England 2-0 Ross to bag 1.

My predictions for this:
  • Suarez to play from the start
  • Rooney in the middle Sterling on the right, Welbeck on the left
  • Henderson to be subbed off on the 69th minute
  • Uruguay to kick anything other than the ball
  • Andy Townsend to talk bubbles all game
  • England to go behind in the first half
  • Baines to score a stunning freekick and then pull a mooney at the camera
  • Gerrard to have another stinker as well a playground fight with Ratboy
  • Rooney to have a average game and the press to call for his public execution
  • The game to end in a draw

England will win, Uruguay's defence will be done in by England's pace

Rooney will score and be declared the white pele again by the red tops.

That Uruguayan badge is terrible. It looks like a first Communion banner. I think England win this. Not sure how much Uruguay can get from Suarez and Forlan has aged

England to win, Italy to win, Uruguay to be knocked out.

Then Costa Rica to smash England next week.

Gerrard crying, Suarez crying, tournament kopite free. It's the dream.

Not that @chicoazul won't still be cheering on his boy luiz, like.

Also, roy should grow a pair @ijjysmith? Of the 14 players he played vs Italy, literally only 3 had ever played a world cupo game before and he started with four forwards on the pitch vs italy.

People have said for years that since England aren't going to win a world cup, the manager should just play a young side in the hope of giving them experience and not care about results.

Roy is the only manager to actually have the balls to go and do that and because he's old and doesn't dance about and talk about rock music, everyone still moans and calls it conservative when he blatantly isn't.

What that poor man did a past life to manage both Liverpool and England, I dunno. Worst bunch of fans in the world. No win jobs, both of them.

I know, poor Roy for speaking the truth about Liverpool. Thats why he was chased out by the fans, he never spoke of the hyper-bole garbage they wanted to hear. He even mentioned the past was in the past if my memory served me right, and they they should not still dine out on it.

It's akin to standing up front of al qaeda as leader and saying " Come on lads, lets jack this fighting in and have a bacon sarnie followed by some casual bumming while we go online to order some clothes from Nike "
