Mexico coach Miguel Herrera has confirmed that striker Javier Hernandez will not start against Cameroon, having gone nine matches without a goal.

Giovani dos Santos will instead partner Oribe Peralta in attack, while Guillermo Ochoa is preferred in goal to Jose Corona.

Cameroon captain Samuel Eto'o is a doubt, having trained intermittently during the last few weeks.

Jean Makoun has just returned from an ankle injury and is unlikely to start.

SMITHY'S PREDICTION: Mexico 1 Cameroon 1

The Mexico boss has come out and said he reckons his team can win the whole thing....

...as he prepares to drop Javier Hernandez.

OK MATE

Beggers can't be choosers?

I dunno, it's Mexico FFS. They're never going to win it anyway, so they might as well play the lad whose in better form

I don't know like, but hard to believe that Dos Santos is in form!

From the little I do know, Mexico have had some shockers in their friendlies, so sounds like none of them are in form mate.

Cameroon could sneak this the more I think about it.

Maybe the manager thinks "I'll drop Hernandez and then bring him on with 20 minutes to go. He'll be fired up and then feel he has something to prove?"

Being a USMNMNMNMNT fan over here, I can say that Dos Santos has this weird way of showing up and playing really well for the national team. Even when he couldn't buy a game a spuds and all the loans he's was out on, he would still play well for Mexico. Besides that, he seems like a good tourney player. Always lights us up in the gold cups and played really well in the confederations cup last year. And chicharito has been crap for Mexico for awhile now. Maybe there is something to that super sub tag...seems like whenever he starts games he sucks.

Yeah they're not very good I'd say. I'm still pissed off we let them in the back door. They were so bad during qualifying-couldn't buy a goal. That being said, credit to them for bringing in and playing some youngsters after that. Not that they had much choice really. Still can't believe Marquez is back in the team. Dude moves slower than a glacier.
