Have to agree with the consensus. Gerrard hasn't got the legs and Henderson hasn't got the knowhow to play the roles they were in. I honestly believe that if Barkley and Wilshere had been on earlier we'd have got something from that game. However they entered when Italy had gone on defensive mode and had far less space to work with Give him his due, Henderson was a willing runner and had to run for his team mate too but neither he nor Gerrard offered anything useful going foreward and weren't up to the task of stopping the Italians. It has to be said that the midfield trio are all top notch and all had good games.
Rooney could have been forgiven for not getting back to cover if he'd had an outstanding game up front but, assist aside, he was pretty useless.

Have to say that Sterling and sturridge both looked good and even Welbeck wasn't completely gash. After seeing what Costa Rica did to Uruguay with pace and direct running, I wouldn't be surprised if we beat them comfortably. On the other hand, we need to tweak the tactics defensively or it could and up as another entertaining defeat.

Said it in World Football - Gerrard did not have the season the media hyped it up to be, not even close. Not a shred of EFC bias in me saying that either, as Sturridge and Suarez were out of this world.

Henderson is, at best, a 6/10 and, at his worst, completely useless. All he offers is athleticism.

As I said earlier, pity McCarthy is not English, he is the type of player that is needed, surely there must be an English player out there apart from Barry.
