Well that was all a little brief wasn't it?

Are we shocked?

I know i'm not.

As some of you know, i'm a bit of a fan of 80's flicks. In 1989 Spike did a quality movie call 'Do The Right Thing'. I've had this in my head since last Thursday. Captain Gerrard you need to do the right thing.
Alan Ball, Booby Moore, David Beckham, Bryan Robson, Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Scarlett and the Mysterons, Captain Phillips, Captain Bucky O'Hare and the bloke who captained the Titanic - all better captains than this fraud.
Harsh? I don't think so. A blue I may be, but i'm happy to say Gerrard has been a fantastic footballer over the years. Top notch. But what exactly has he done for England that someone else couldn't have? He didn't get England there on his own like Becks. And he certainly didn't lift the trophy. He's a fraud and needs to do the right thing. Just what exactly did he do this World Cup? Apart from offer no protection for the defence and do nothing going forward?

I can just about name every other player doing at least one thing well for England in the last two games. Hart made a couple of decent saves, Baines got better in game 2 and set up Rooney to miss a chance. Jags did the clearance off the line. Cahill handled Suarez quite well until the moment. Johnson set up Rooney. Henderson had a shot (that one was tough). Sterling beat his man a few times. Welbeck ran a lot. Sturridge scored a goal. Rooney scored a goal. Hey I did it.

FRAUD

I had hoped that Mr Hodgson would do the right thing, but I read this morning he's asked Gerrard to stay on. So it's up to the man himself to finally do something for this country and stand down of his own accord.

Look at that. Christ.

Anyway, i'm possibly one of very few who don't think Roy has done a bad job for England. I mean what more could he do? (Apart from drop Gerrard and play people where they should be playing like). I honestly don't think any single manager would have done any better with this group of players.
He's bought youth along for the ride. Not a bad move. He's got rid of Ashley Cole and John Terry, despite media bells trying to force this on him. And as much as I bemoan him for it, no manager would have had the balls to drop Gerrard. It just wouldn't happen. Sadly.

And be honest with yourself. Who else is there? I've seen some utterly ludicrous names mentioned, some in jest, some serious (Alex Ferguson for the love of god). But it's a tough job and Roy is far far from perfect but I can't think of anyone who could do better right now. He's still a bit weird though.

That image has to be the least shocking thing of this whole tournament. Tittishness aside, we all know how boss at togger Luis Suarez is. Add that to Pirlo schooling England (again) in game one, why are people shocked that England are now out?
But have England really been that bad? Results wise, not exactly smashed by either of these two clearly better sides, and performance wise, a whole lot better than in 2010. Incidentally good to see Capello not changing a thing with Russia.

England are alright. And have alright players. But that's the problem. Other countries have a Suarez, or a Pirlo, or a Messi, or a Robben, or a Neymar. Someone truly gifted and brilliant. England don't have this. Yet.

Tuesday's game is a dead rubber for a whole load of reasons. But one of them is weird. Costa Rica are only bloody already through to the next round. Absolute well in to them. Well in.
I may have got them in the work sweepstakes too, so it's all good here.
They are a quick pacey team that have shocked everyone so far. They don't even need our very own hunk of love Bryan Oviedo or leggy wonder Paulo Wanchope to be there, and they are snotting all comers all over the show.
Would be harsh to say it's the weather they are used to. The CONCACAF lads are performing at this World Cup and that's all that matters. Ain't that right USA?

And hey we all like an underdog doing well.

Teams for this will be all over the shop.
The Ricans may well rest some of their bigger guns what with being already sorted in the group. Maybe not if they fancy top spot that should see them play against Ivory Coast rather than the boss dancers of Colombia.
England, well the fraud isn't playing i'm told. So Lampard will captain, and hopefully play his final England game ever. Luke Shaw will come in to replace Baines who has a 'hamstring' injury. Jones and Smalling should feature for some god known reason, as will Lambert and LOOK JUST GIVE THE BALL TO ROSS AND WE'LL AT LEAST GET A CONSOLATION PRIZE AND NOT LOOK LIKE THE SPANISH.

Talking of Ross. Loads of people saying he should have played. Can we all just remember the brown brogued boss Martinez didn't always play him either.

Is he really any good? I think I will LOL if United spend £30m on him. He's a Chelsea fan anyway.

Either way, this has to be the end for something, or someone. Some of these players have had their time. They've had their go at winning something. Or at least doing alright. They have failed. Get rid, and let someone else have a go.

That's you Gerrard i'm talking about. Do one.

And it not...

Hopefully we can salvage some pride, Costa Rica play like a team with no worries who are glad to be there, being that relaxed has got to help them play better.

2-0 England... Now the pressures off they will probably win.

I hope we get absolutely walloped by them, would love to see Costa Rica go through as group winners, imagines Oviedos little face lighting up.

We don't deserve anything other than a beating, hopefully the Everton players involved come back injury free and get a good pre-season in after a break, they'll need it after wasting their summer with what is mostly a group of complete bellends.

Cannot believe this Ijjy.

Hodgson is talking of keeping Gerrard on, ffs he is 34 a pensioner by footbal standards. What a load of nonsense from Hodgson.

Noticed in the interview his view was that managers should be judged on qualities not on winning or losing games. Heavens which planet is he on!
