I'm a biological anthropologist. But again, that's irrelevant. I enjoyed the win tremendously, as we certainly needed the points. But if you're suggesting, as implied by your comment, that somehow I'm not allowed to imply that Lukaku's or Barkley's performance was anything but "the best ever possible performances in the history of all performances" you'd be wrong. They both played well, and if we are forced to hand out MoM today, then it could go to one of them. But they teamed up for a 2-0 win against West Ham, a bottom-half table team that has a -9 goal differential. Certainly, there were flashes of brilliance in Lukaku's and Barkley's performances, but I didn't grow up in a generation where every single instance of reality, song, youtube clip, comment, tweet, or discussion topic must be met with extreme hyperbole, as in the "best ever ever" or the "worst of all possible worsts." As I originally said, "No one really stood out as outstanding for me today. Lukaku and Barkley were certainly good, but both had performances only slightly above what I would regularly expect from them." I hold them to high standards because they are talented. And I haven't seen enough of their talent in the past few weeks.
