John Lundstram returned from suspension to give the blues a lead with Jake Kempton equalising for the visitors at Finch farm played behind closed doors.
Both coaches decided to settle for youthful sides with Everton looking to stretch their unbeaten run to 8 games, their last outing being at Sunderland last Thursday.
Both keepers were called upon early on in the opening moment as Everton’s Davies firstly denied Ismail’s attempt with McCarey being on his toes to produce a double stop from Vellios and Orenuga who was trying to cash in from the rebound.
Again both teams showed signs of trying to snatch a lead as Dier headed over a corner fron Conor Grant then at the other end with Ebanks-Landell going close in similar fashion.
It was the blues who got their noses in front just after the half hour when Orenuga crossed for Vellios who forced McCarey to push away his shot with the onrushing Lundstram hitting the rebound past the stranded keeper despite full back Kostrna’s late effort to keep it out.
Ismail and Gorman looked very dangerous for the visitors but Everton held their nerve to end the first half a goal to the good.

EVERTON RES 1 WOLVES RES 0
England’s young lion Halam Hope was the only change at the break replacing Vellios who had picked up a yellow card just before half time.
Everton’s start to the second half was encouraging with Hope nearly doubling the blues lead inside three minutes only for McCarey to save with his feet.
Ismail who was in the thick of the action was responsible for helping his team mates draw level 12 minutes after the restart. A combination of one touch football with Price then a shot blocked from Gorman’s effort left Kempton with an easy task of thumping the ball into the net.
A goal in favour of the visitors stood them in good stead as they were at this point the more effective team as Everton were not able to get behind the Wolves defence and had to setle for shooting from distance without troubling McCarey.
Baxter came close for the blues towards the end of the game as did McAleny who was denied with a good save from McCarey once more with both teams sharing the points.
Everton travel to Wigan Athletic on Thursday looking to keep their unbeaten run intact.
