Lancashire referee Mark Halsey will take centre stage for this fixture and will be assisted by his colleagues Mr A Newbold and Mr W Smallwood, the fourth official is Michael Oliver.
Mark Halsey's last Goodison visit was on the 29th October where we lost to Man Utd, his record to date is 16 games officiated 39 yellow and not a red card as yet.

Unless it's just the fact he and his wife recovered from cancer in a boss story which is clouding my judgement, Halsey's actually one of the very few decent refs around these days and seems like a sound guy too.*

*This opinion may change based on Saturday's game.

Surprised he's allowed to referee us, I hear he's quite friendly with the club since he was invited to ref the Chile match. Seems to be one of the more grounded refs.

Halsey's always seems to be one of the more common sense refs out there. Still prone to buffoonery now and again, but definately in the top 3 for me.

Mark Halsey is a fine referee, I also referee and I wish I 20 camera angles like sky. I would still argue whether I get all decisions right tho. ha opinion opinion

Well of course he is, he's only human after all.
The difference is that he seems to make mistakes instead of be a tit.

Of the malignant pool of individuals that are considered competent referees in the Prem, Halsey seems one of if not the best. IIRC Oliver on the other hand is a complete tit-head.
Here's hoping for a fair to both sides ref and a good game. All Evertonians ever want.

I've always liked Mark Halsey since I met and spoke to his wife in the 1878 Lounge at Goodison a few years ago . I really nice friendly lady , she was told me about their restaurant in Bolton which quite a few players go to from both Manchester and Merseyside clubs , Peter Reid also a frequent visitor ,.

I always thought him sort of like a humble jeff winter. Means well but is incompitent, whereas the others don't mean well and are incompitant.

Okay, I realize the irony of the fact that I am unable to spell that word, there is not need for you to point it out. I tried six different ways. I don't have spell check except in open office. Incompetant. crap. Whatever, if he's a nice bloke then i don't hate him. If he has a 'mare I'll try and be kind. incompitent ****.
