I've only recently stopped wearing one. The missus told me off as no one else still was doing! Jokes on her now!
A mask is only an effective barrier against airborne pathogens for about 5-10 minutes. As has already been stated, I wore a mask to protect from aerosol and blood splatter. How effective it was is difficult to say, but I lived through it.Go on then I'll bite
Is that dentist that's been wearing masks since he left dentsl school 40 years ago just doing it for the placebo effect then?
A half n half scarf wrapped around you mug isnt the same as a proper snug fitting n3 type mask. Thats what is recommended by epidemiologists.
Had a couple of good moments doing that in supermarkets. Think they were doing the same as well though.its easier to ignore people you semi know so i'm all in,
got mine on now and i'm in my house, but it's bin day so best to err on the side of caution.
I don't believe the masks are very effective in reducing transmission. I believe they make some people feel safer, in that sense they are more like a placebo. That is fine for me, if people still wish to wear them, I have no problem with that.
There are lots of studies showing masks work very well and lots of studies showing that they don't work at all. But looking at real world data, almost every nation that has brought in mask mandates, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Austria, they all saw their biggest spike in cases afterwards. In Germany, they banned the cloth / paper masks earlier this year and made everyone wear the medical grade NFP masks and even the same happened with them.
ps https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-mask-mandates-n0t-causing-c-idUSKBN2802W4 claim it's not the case.
No what has done little to stop the rise in case is selfish people who only care about themselves doing nothing to help stop the spreadI didn’t say that masks are responsible for the rise in cases. I’m saying they’ve done very little to stop any rise in cases.

The amount of people i know lately who have had covid is scary, i dont just mean tested positive but have actually been hit with it, I've been lucky but guess its only a matter of time.Yes I agree social distancing could definitely be better too, to slow the spread a little more, but it’s also a new virus and at some point everyone on the planet will have to catch this and fight it off.
