Thing is he's got belgiums "golden generation" if he can't improve on Wilmots record he will be judged a failure. Kev and Rom have no doubt put the rest of the lads in the picture about him too.
In short he's Donald ducked.
Not necessarily. Martinez does have a lot of positives and his style does suit international football and having top players. His negatives are also somewhat mitigated by the fact their fitness and training won't be his responsibility.

Martinez needs momentum. For people to buy into his positivity BS Belgium need to be winning every game like we were in his first season. If he builds that up then his reality distortion field could well work in Belgium's favor and let's be honest most games will be against minnows so that won't be too hard to do.

You do all realise that my username was picked long before Roberto turned up at Everton, don't you?

I get paranoid sometimes and think loads of you are giving me funny looks when I post.

Supposing Roberto hadn't been offered a new contract two years ago, and he'd been approached by England, Arsenal, Spurs or whoever, and had accepted their offer.

Let's assume that his two seasons in his new job would have followed the pattern of his last two years at Everton - the occasional exceptionally good result, but overall falling flat on his face.

How would we view RM now? As a lost leader, or as a bullet dodged?

neither.
