Supposing Roberto hadn't been offered a new contract two years ago, and he'd been approached by England, Arsenal, Spurs or whoever, and had accepted their offer.

Let's assume that his two seasons in his new job would have followed the pattern of his last two years at Everton - the occasional exceptionally good result, but overall falling flat on his face.

How would we view RM now? As a lost leader, or as a bullet dodged?

Not sure I'm understanding the point of the question. Sorry mate. o_O
 
We would remember him more fondly for the one good season. Having directly experienced the flaws of his management, our fans know how depressing it has been. In fact, many lost the enthusiasm to watch Everton last season. The only way to cope with that 4-0 derby loss was to just laugh it off.
