In today's press conference the question came up and mentioned how the other contenders for the league won't talk about their chances of winning the league. Martinez said "we'd be more than happy to win the league" and now sky sports are taking these comments as if he's saying "yes we can win the league" and that's not what I think he meant by what he said. He goes on to talk about other teams European commitments but that doesn't dictate he has came out and said we are challenging for the league. The reporters are getting this all wrong. He's saying it in a reaction to why the other managers play down their chances. Martinez is concentrating on the final third and to give us the best possible chance to finish 4th.

It annoys me to see how comments can get twisted.

They do not care what he actually said or meant. They only care about what they can make it sound like he said or meant. You should be used to it by now.

We all want to win the league but are the media putting boulders on our shoulders? The teams around us will probably thrive on these comments.

We never got anything like this with Moyes so we'll see, we now have to make a statement tomorrow night.

I know Moyes played us down but at times we appreciated that. We could go into games without pressure. The season we finished 4th took everybody by surprise and Moyes played it cool all season.

I think if we won the league we would struggle with European games next season and wouldn't be able to win the league again.

I think 8th is best. No Europe and next year we can concentrate solely on 8th place.

Ah you've gotta love 24/7 media. They're crying out for content so jump on anything and try and conjure a story out of it, which in turn gets us wound up (as we're also crying out for stuff to talk about).

What did folks do when their only news was from teletext?
