rascal

Player Valuation: £60m
What planet is he on?

On the Football League reducing QPR's fine for financial mismanagement from £50m to £8m

'Finally, the Football League came to their senses over Queens Park Rangers,' Samuel begins. 'Being a bad football club is punishment enough. It does not need extreme action from above. Bad football clubs impose their own penalties, with bad business. Bad owners make bad signings, buy bad players, for bad money, get bad results and achieve bad league positions.

'The good players can't wait to get out, and decent managers become contaminated by the foolishness. What would be the point of the Football League extracting a further £50million from QPR, as was first mooted?'

I feel Samuel could have his own thread, because his views on football are often monumentally stupid.

It's unfair on those clubs who played by the rules. They gambled, lost and should pay the consequences.

Should a thief have his sentence shortened if the thief gets knocked over by a car when fleeing?

Suffice to say, I don't follow the goings on at QPR at all, but have grasped that they spent much more than they earned and got into a high level of financial strife. I'm not sure they stole the money from anyone else though, but I'll bow to your better knowledge of their situation :)

My point was that they cheated their competition.

Taking £50 mill of them is fair enough if you think punishment is fine for punishments sake. If punishment is there to teach them a lesson then maybe he is right in a way. Just not the way he put it, being a bad club isn't punishment enough because you remain a bad club and maybe influence others. Staying a cheating club isn't an option. Learn from your mistakes

Martin Samuel forms part of the parasitic journalistic mafia that feeds on titbits given to them by the likes of Tony Fernándes and his entourage, the Soho spivs in charge at West Ham and the like.
Also, let's bear in mind the high calibre of the newspapers and programmes in which he features.
Yes, this could be a good thread!

He's more amenable to the porn twins at West ham because he's a West Ham fan.

because he always justifies the idiotic, I stopped reading his crap years ago. He's up there with Talkshite and Durham. Glad I don't have Sky and have my Sunday mornings ruined by tossers like him.
Loving this thread already.

Some teams played by the rules and didn't get promoted presumably because they were both sensible financially and concerned of the possible repercussions .

There is no point in rules or laws . be it in football or life , if you simply change them because they are too harsh if you break them too much .

Sounds suspiciously like FFP. Another one where rules where watered down to please the abusers.

So what does he think about Bournemouth who had been in administration twice in 10 years and had the buckets out at the ground to get money off away supporters to save their club and now they are in the Premier League. Guess that is a good story is it?

Feel for anyone who lost money because of them, same with Portsmouth.

I'm not a huge fan of rules generally and if people don't like them then I get scrapping or repealing them but to water them down because people keep breaking them leading to harsher and harsher penalties seemed insane.
