Welcome back Wayne
I was lucky enough to be trained by the likes of Billy Higgins (mostly), Andy Sherry, Bob Pointon and Steve Cattle in Shotokan Karate. All of these guys were members of the KUGB National side and were the most knowledgeable and dedicated karate men in the UK, and indeed apart from the late Steve Cattle they still are.....

....anyone else done anything.......

I've done Brazilian jiu-jitsu for about 10 years, and muay thai for about 7 years. I love it, but I'm not recovering as fast as I used to. I may have to start cutting back.

Used to do Muay Thai and BJJ, loved it. Stopped because I was always injured for footy/couldn't be arsed.

Renbukan, trained by Balfour Martin and Unil Piper from the England training camp and Andy Shannon from the Irish side

All too quick for me though, got moved into the advanced class within about 6 months and was sparring with world champions. No fun really considering I wasn't that good.

Some folk just take to it mate, my little brother couldn't spar or fight but was awesome at Kata, whereas I couldn't get to grips with Kata but loved the fighting lol

Aye, I was a bit like you. I couldn't throw a punch at a pad but just knew how to fight if you know what I mean.

EDIT: probably doing myself a disservice saying I wasn't that good there. I was decent but went from having my first inter club against some nobody to doing full contact sparring with an older lad who'd just won the world title in Cambodia within three months.
