There's more than likely as many blues of Irish heritage as English. Some will feel some connection or other and take the time to learn of it's history and politics.

Of course the army was originally deployed in NI to protect the Catholics and they were welcomed as such. The problems then turned from anti catholic bias and attack into out and out republicanism with the IRA then attacking the army. Many people today still have blood on their hands, but hopefully time will move on and barriers can be removed........
