When I listen to music properly it's via cd or vinyl. However I also make electronic copies of what I own to take with me on my phone or media players. These are stored on an enormous hard disk. I basically design a tree divided into classical, folk, rock and jazz (anything else gets dumped into rock in the unlikely event that I like it).
I'm wondering what is the best way to manage this collection. My mind works by having directories and I like to know where the music is stored. However keeping track on what I have where is becoming a nightmare, especially when new albums are added to one hdd or media player and not the other and sometimes duplicated.
I guess I'm after a program that will scan my collection and find duplicates so I can save space. Also find where I have the same music in mp3 and flac so I can delete the inferior mp3.
Any ideas?
How do you folks do it?
