I'm staying in the Universiti Malaya International Student Centre, according to Google its a 20 minute drive to the Petronas Towers which Im guessing is their City centre.

I worked for the British Council in KL for a year and hated the place with a passion. Huge racial divides, everyone trying to rip you off non-stop, evil levels of pollution ...
Hopefully staying with a family will protect you from the worst of it.
Tourism wise it is quite good - the Batu caves are just outside of KL are boss and filled with monkeys that will come right up to you and the island beaches are ace.
Consul ?
or are we over there chasing up non payments of council tax and parking fines ? "Hello Sir, I'm here to collect a fine from you, you clearly set someone down in a no stopping zone near your local library, I was against the wall with my camera, totally naked and covered in body paint to make me look like bricks, yes thats me, yeah it does look like a tap doesnt it"
Errrm no Council was right.
They teach English and spread the word of the wonder of British culture across the globe.
Good to know there is things around there to do. Are there any nightclubs there? It's a mainly Muslim country so I bought drinking would be frowned upon. You're right next to Bangsar and Mid Valley Mega Mall.
My folks lived there when I was in Uni, so spend a couple of Xmas hols in KL - Bangsar def had a more studenty feel to it for nights out on the piss, less businessmen than the city centre and hence fewer hookers...
Def do the caves and Genting - but like any resort/casino, that can get expensive.
Coach down to Singapore's fairly cheap and worth a visit for a weekend whilst you're over that way.
I'm worried about the drugs aspect of going there. I've a horrible feeling they're going to try something on. Keeping my bag with me at all times.
