Hi lads, my partner and I done something today for somebody we'd never met before and I feel good now for doing it... Basically....

My mrs works in a supermarket and has done for 11 years now. One of the managers left ther about 6 years ago and moved away but is still on her Facebook friend list ..... Anyway, today he sent a message to her ( and others with whom he used to work) quite distressed as his young wife and daughter had travelled from their now home in east London and had been stranded at my home town port en route to Ireland as their sailing had been cancelled due to bad weather. His wife is originally from Malia and is very good at speaking English but was feeling vulnerable stuck in a port in a strange town with a two year old daughter in the freezing cold...... Within a few text messages we arranged to pick them up at the port, drove them to our home, fed them, kept them warm and safe and made sure we got them back to the port with their luggage and safely onto their nighttime crossing to Dublin where they will be met by their family members..... Made us feel good to have been able to help.

Did anyone else expect this to end with 'I no speak Englando gooder please no copy fettuccini dongerini pasterino'?

Brilliant, you should feel good. When I was a kid, my dad was a mechanic in a small Illinois town. A young couple en route to Chicago for their honeymoon had their car break down just outside of our town - with about 13 inches of snow on the ground. Dad talked to them, knew it would take at least a couple days to get the appropriate parts. They came home and stayed with us in the meantime. I was 7 and my sister 5.

They still send me letters every Christmas, a gift for my university graduation, and flowers to my mom's funeral. It's been 28 years now.

An act of kindness can leave an impression that lasts a lifetime.

woulda you 'of' if the mrs hadn't been there ?
Oh deffo...ha ha

It's brilliant that.... We waited at the port with them to ensure their boat sailed but told them they could stay at ours if needed.... To be honest she couldn't have been more grateful and the little girl was just fantastic.... That port ain't no place for a woman and child to be stranded.... We are gonna meet up on hir return journey also for lunch.

Nice one Kurt.
We all tend to get on a downer about the world and the human race being so messed up after watching or reading the news coz it alll seems bad. Fact is this type of stuff goes on more than people think coz it doesn't make the news. That's not trying to take away any credit from you mate as it still doesn't go on enough.

Well done.
