Alreet lads n lasses

Coming down to Liverpool on Saturday the 28th September arrive about 12'ish at Lime Street and staying at The Liner Hotel. Obviously know about Mathew Street just wondering if there's much nearby the hotel for during the afternoon, boozers that serve canny enough food and will have the footy on ? Also any good Italian restaurants and other bar recommendations are welcome for the night time too

Cheers Albertini ;)
The Railway on Tithebarn Street has seriously good grub and the Lion tavern next door is a smart boozer as well.

My fave pub in Liverpool city centre btw, is The Cornmarket (with thanks to @Groucho ) Pub at 1 Old Ropery, opposite The Slaughterhouse Pub, which it's also quite nice but a bit more crowdy and noisy compared to The Cornmarket. Bit of a hidden gem. Landlord is great.
A bit of history for you: originally, it was actually two separate pubs that were run by the same landlady during the 70s - Mrs T.

The Cornmarket was the pub/eatery and the Bull’s Head was solely a bar, with neither connected apart from a shared kitchen.

They also had different opening hours so you’d often get ‘nudged’ from one to the other during a liquid lunch, sorry working on a job.

Cheers lads taking on board your suggestions .. apart from jumping in the mersey lol

Little bit gutted your game v City got changed to the Sunday after I booked it up as would've liked to have gone to that game would've got tickets no problem too off due to contacts

Read something about that in Ken Pye's book about Liverpool Pubs I believe.

think its a bit overpriced myself, the old bank next door is nicer and cheaper
