I remember listening to one of the Peter Crouch podcasts and they were talking about goalkeepers. They were saying how clubs sign experiences goalkeepers and pretty much just use them as GK coaches with no real intention of playing them, but that they’re quite an important figure in training. You always see Stekelenburg helping Pickford warm up pre-match and I reckon that’s pretty much all he’s there for.
