Neither. Been there a few times, twice last year, and would like to go back again in the not too distant future, and was just wondering where a 'local' went. Remember on my first trip going to a little club (think it was on Placa Reial), really small, had stairs on the right going up to a balcony, played lots of house music?

If you are into your electronica, Apolo club always has a good lineup on fridays and saturdays. I´m not so big into that scene but go a lot with my friends who are, and they would go there more than most other places. Its very central too.

Well I talk, write and eat tripe lol.

If you head off to the Croix Rousse market it has a large number of street food stall which are very good value. Also has some very good but inexpensive restaurants. Fixed price lunch or early dinner is the best way of eating well and cheaply. Seem to remember La Brasserie Chantecler was very good.

Difficult to eat badly in Lyon to be honest but I'd definitely look at the food stalls in Croix Rousse.

I think we will be in and around there a lot, so thanks! Will check them out. :)

There's a cracking little Portuguese cafe/bar on Rue Derrier Rouge called La Lisbone.

It's been open years and is very popular amongst locals and tourists alike.

If you are not having a meal upstairs, they bring you sausage to your table to enjoy with your beer.

Real relaxed laid back friendly vibe.
