Yup. Our priority in the summer was a goal scorer. We aren't Chelsea or man city, we don't have the dosh to replace evert position in a summer.

Ignoring an ageing back line will cost him his job
He no doubt looked at our great defence last year and saw young cover/replacement for Baines in Garbutt, young cover/replacement for Distin in Stones, young cover/eventual replacement to bring through for Jags in Browning with Alcaraz as emergency backup and decided our lack of a striker, lack of any reliable cover for Barry and McCarthy, and a thinness in attacking options as more important.

Just like the rest of the fanbase did.

Our ridiculous number of injuries have cost us, Players are having to play when unfit/out of form because there is no other option. They lost confidence during a string of hard matches and are struggling to get it back in the easier ones because no decisions are going for them and the injuries pile up in every single game.

How many times have Coleman, Stones, Jags and Baines played together this season? and how many when they are all fully fit?

Speak for yourself

it boils down to having much bigger problems all over the pitch that the our defence which as functioning well last season.

having nine players to cover four positions whatever their ages shouldn't be a problem.

Logic would tell you that Distin would get worse every season at his age

Alcaraz struggles to stay fit

But Martinez ignored that and spent 90% of his budget on a over priced striker

Did we need another center mid in Besic when we had Osman, Barkley, Gibson, McCarthy, and Barry?

Since his arrival at the club he had signed one defender in Alcaraz, he has ignored that end of the team and now it's bitten him on the arse

Yeah because Osman is [Poor language removed], Barkley cannot be relied on and was injured at the start of the season, Gibson is always crocked.
Barry was signed permanent because of his influence last year, but Besic was signed to aid our future.
McCarthy is crocked a lot recently too and his form has also been indifferent

So yeah we needed a cm.

But we didn't need a cb when we had one who can't stay fit, a 37 year old and a kid

Great logic

That 'kid' walks into our starting 11 no matter what. Forget that he is a kid. He is a KEY player in our team now. If he wasn't injured we probably wouldn't have conceded 30 goals this season and no blues ever be having this debate because we'd be laughing, but that's not the case. None of us saw the injuries coming as they have done, and as much as I have criticised Roberto recently I absolutely do not see why people have complained at the transfers he made.

Jags wasn't meant to go a bit poo this season, neither was Distin. Tbh for their ages they are both doing relatively well, and whilst we do need to replace them soon, Stones and Galloway in Martinez head were obviously the future of our CB's? Not to mention Garbutt and Browning are on the edges of the squad, and Hibbert can do a job there. Might not be pretty but i'm sure he's been one of our better performers in the games he was forced to play at CB.
