Lukaku reveals request to play more direct.

I think this whole thing is saying more about how much individuals can overreact/read too much into into things than Evertons management.

It was a routine tactics discussion, as has been confirmed, and Martinez took on board some suggestions from the people who are putting the tactics into practice. I'm sure he's rejected ideas from players as well as accepted them.

I personally think it's a good thing that our players/manager are open and are willing to give and take advice.

It's great that the team and management are close enough to be able to work together to try and improve things.

Watch Rom score a goal a game now..

It's all a bit odd this 'philosophy' stuff. If you're a manager then you get paid to win football matches with the players you have available. If you have Jags and Distin at the back marked by a couple of forwards then it may be worth kicking it up to Naismith's head rather than roll it out. Then when he's signed another ball playing centre half to go alongside Stones then we can play more from the back. It's like when Rodgers took over at the pit and let Carroll go then spent the whole season short of a striker. Surely you get results with the means at your disposal before bringing in the players you want who can play the style you want.

My only question for Lukaku is, why do you smash so many shots over the bar?

Being on target is very important.

Let's start with that. Let's get some goals lad. I believe you can do it!!!

But he's lost the dressing room....some fellas said so on GOT, and so did that bastion of truth and reason the Daily Mail.

Clown out, Save money by having 11 player managers.

Probably because most of the time he's smashing it from 25 yards after carrying the ball as far to create his own chances. I reckon it's harder than it looks.

His scoring record is good!

Yes..but you would expect the England centre half, and a vastly experienced French centre back with and excellent reputation, to have enough confidence in their own ability to at least make a reasonable fist of 'playing out from the back at a pace that might hurry the opposition a little'

Seems to me more that he gets them on target fairly often but straight at the keeper.

Paying off. Small adjustment. Well spoken up.

Getting our pacier players running at the oppo's back line and isolating for one on ones is something we've missed. Glad it's looking like it's coming back.

Go pragmatism.

That's called pragmatism. Martinez doesn't do pragmatism, for better or worse.

And before people start going "oh, you hate Martinez" - I don't. I personally prefer the Mourinho way of approaching football matches, but I can certainly see the merits of Martinez, and I certainly prefer it to the neither here nor there approach of Moyes.
