Spurs can thank moves like Downing to Liverpuds for 20M for Mordric's price. He's good but I always thought Arteta in his prime was a better player. IMO Bale is a better player and he's not worth 35M either.

You're being a bit unkind to Bale, Adebayor, Van der Vaart et al there mate. Spurs have some excellent players.

I like Bale a lot and Adebayor no doubt has talent. In fact, I think Spurs have a very talented squad. But they are, VDV aside to an extent, a very direct team. Modric is not a very direct player.

I just think most of Spurs play a different style of football than Modric. He no doubt makes them better, but I also think he'd do better individually elsewhere. I think Gio Dos Santos has the same issue. While he is not near the player Modric is, he doesn't fit the system.
