He's not said that at all. He's said Howard is still injured and that its a moot point anyway debating his return because of that.

More notably he stated that Howard needs to get healthy and feeling like his old self in order to fight for his place.

That's about as unequivocal as you can get that matters on the GK front have changed dramatically. Robles is #1 and Howard is going have to up his game when/if he gets back in.
I agree

No doubt in my mind Howard has been dropped. No reason for everyone to fume at this juncture

Hope so.

The problem is, I can just see #24 on the team sheet and it would be unfair.

Hopefully I'm being over-cynical, and hopefully I'm way off come Saturday.

It would be very unfair for Joel to be dropped but then it was last year when he had 3 consecutive clean sheets and was dumped.

This year is a lot different from last year. Tims drop in performance is now a trend and not a couple month blip. But more importantly Joel now passes the "eye" test, whereas last year he wasn't as assured. He now just looks much better which bob realizes. It's now his time

The West Ham cup game at Upton Park was the making of the lad. Think his performance that night got a lot fans on side and i think its helped his confidence grow an awful lot. At Barnsley away he wasnt the best, but neither was the defence that was in front of him, but since then he's been brilliant everytime he's played and shown that he can be number one goalkeeper for Everton.

I had a nightmare last night that Howard started the next game and dropped an absolute clanger in the last minute against West Brom and we lost. I woke up screaming, crying, shaking and sweating all over.

Please don't, Roberto.
