Dreams where you become aware that you are asleep and dreaming...anyone experience them?

I have them now and again, it’s great when you realise you’re in a dream, although it’s extremely difficult to manipulate the dream to do what you want to do.

I used to have them quite a lot when I was younger, especially around my teens / early adult life. They also used to often coincide with my EHS which I used to suffer with - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome (yes it's a real thing!).

There's a technique to control them better, plenty of stuff on it to read up on, but I think it robs you of REM sleep, can't remember, either way be sure to make yourself a totem!

I weirdly seem to wake myself up in my dreams sometimes, maybe this is why, because I know I'm dreaming? I think that thought does go through my head when I do it tbh.

Yes I used to have them every single night up until the age of about 11. It was because I was so scared to sleep because of recurring nightmares. Eventually I learnt how to lucid dream. It was amazing

Just last night I had a madly lucid one about me, my wife and mums husband sliding on our feet down a really steep hill. Weird.
