FC Porto confirmed tonight that they have paid €6.65m to acquire the remaining 50 per cent of Argentina midfielder Lucho González's playing rights.

Improved deal
The 26-year-old arrived at the northern club from CA River Plate in summer 2005, and last November penned an improved contract tying him to the Estadio do Dragão club until 2011. Lucho has scored in 19 Liga goals in 60 appearances over two seasons at Porto, both of which ended in title glory. Porto, who will play in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, also announced that they had rejected an approach from Everton FC in England for the player.

Hopefully we push on for someone else but i will be raging if the money vanishes.

this may seem ridiculous but they may have bought him so that we can buy him outright.........yep that does sound ridiculous...........but then again!!

well the story says they have rejected our bid. Cant see us going higher than £11 million.

Can't believe we have £11 million to be honest.

[Poor language removed] it, lets see if Benfica and whoever else owns him, wont reconsider Manny's price.

Less risk than Lucho as we know he can adapt to the prem.

Plus Moyes can coach him to a higher standard. He's a rough diamond, but has as much untapped skill than anyone in europe.

Vogel, Manny, Pienaar in midfield.

Baines and Jags at the back.

A loan deal or cheap signing up front.

A good transfer window in my opinion.

As chico isn't here, well, he was gash anyway.

And he has a mullet. We couldn't have that, could we!
