The lottery raises money for good causes its not just the prize money. So those starving people on the streets could benefit from it.

It will!

They'd also benefit a hell of a lot more if everyone donated £2 a week to helping them rather than in the attempt to win more money than they could ever need.

I do the National Lottery as I have seen first hand someone win the thing.

My main Lottery bets are on the Irish however. It costs me £24 a week for the bet I like. A £2 line on 3 numbers returns me £1100 when it comes in.

Moaning over a quid FFS !

I hate paying a quid as it is, rarely do it cos it seems a total waste of cash. I certainly won't be shelling out 2 quid, sod right off.

Haha! i can`t say your wrong but i think without the prize money it wouldn`t really work. people doing the lottery might donate money to good causes in other ways as well without trying to win prizes.

My brother has had 3 numbers on it a few times he does a perm of some kind and ends up with a similar amount of moneyas you mention. I dont think he spends £24 a week tough.

Yes and they'd benefit even more if everybody stopped going to football matches and paying £30 a time for the privilege to support massively inflated football wages and donated that instead.

Yeah obviously people won't give that money if the chance of winning money isn't there i understand that.

Its just a pet hate of mine really, its just obscene that so much money can get given away like that and that people have no problem paying for the lottery every week when there are so many people struggling for money.

At least if the top prize was £10,000 or soemthing that would be far better.

Yeah i know they would. Footballers wages should ideally be capped at a far lower level than they are but thats not the issue in this thread is it.
