Losing our 4th CL spot?

It appears that the English clubs are seriously on the wane at the top level. I can't see the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal competing with Barca, Bayern, Real or even PSG any time over the next few years.

I also think Man City will need another year or two to acclimatise to the different style of play you get and fighting on two fronts.

The likes of ourselves and Spurs will be also-rans should either of us qualify over the next few seasons too IMO.

So, how poor, for how long, would we need to be for us to lose a CL spot and make it the top 3 only that gets in?

Me, I'd be quite pleased if it happened. Would be the death knell of a few of our rivals who haven't learned to cope without that money stream.

Only thing going for England in that regard is that the teams for otehr nations, soutside of Spain and Germany, aren't doing too well either. I can't see them giving an extra slot to Holland, France or Portugal for instance. I don't see Scotland getting their extra slot back any time soon. I suppose Italy might be in with a shout. I doubt they'd give Spain 5 slots (Although I'm sure they'd love to)

Maybe give Turkey another slot? Do Germany get 4 slots at the moment, or do they just get 3?

I think the Germans and The Iti's get 3 each mate. Both countries are on the up football wise.

Outside of Juve, the Italians have been pretty dross in Europe this year to be fair

Lazio got a 2-0 stuffing from Fenerbache in the UEFA Cup last week. Juve made the quarters of the CL and were beaten quite easily by Bayern

Can easily see UEFA taking our 4th slot and giving it to the Jerry's

The English FA put more money into UEFA than any other country. As we all know UEFA/FIFA are money grabbing in the extreme. We should be ok for a good few years yet.

With the increase in tv money English teams it will be easier for English teams to take players from "lesser" European leagues thus propel the top teams back to where they were a few years ago. Im guessing that's the whole point of the increases.

The top 3 leagues in Europe get 4 places & that's calculated by using the co-efficients over the last 5 years.

The current top 3 are England, Spain & Germany - England are currently miles ahead of the 4th ranked nation - Italy.

So the answer is that we'd have to stuff it up over a prolonged period in the CL, with our demise co-inciding with a dramatic rise from the Italians.

The Europa League heavily influences it as well and with England having 3 teams still left in the competition at the quarter final stage that should see us keep a high co efficient.

Arsenal would be the most effected I reckon. You'd see them start spending more in order to catch Chelsea and City

I think they've got an outside chance if they spend again this summer and get lucky with his signings. Down to three they've got more chance of winning Paris-Dakar on a skateboard.

As Big Mick says put the Arse under a lot of pressure too.
