All parties proffer the same centre-right, pro-capitalist dogma. Take your pick, you won't get anything different. Labour ceased being aligned to the NHS, unions, et al, years ago. They look after the same vested, business interests that the Tories do.
It's become like America, where all you have are two parties (be the same now in UK, as the the Lib Dems won't be existing as a viable entity once this government is gone. Hope the empty promises and greed were worth it boys!). But in USA, they are both right-leaning, just one slightly more than the other, but when you look at their main 'policies' and ideologies, there is simply very little difference in the grand scheme of things. You're voting on tiny, fractional things.
It's sad to say but everyone already knows that all it's really about is money, money and even more money. Get in for your term, hold on for as long as you can and in that time, cream off as much as you can, through advantageous deals, contacts that will set you up for times to come, etc.
Some people do care about politics and voting but since politicians have become even more blatant in their corruption and shameful behaviour in the past 15-20 years (because there are simply very little, real repercussions for them) that most people are turning off. It's this very liberal, lack of real punishment of their wrong-doings which feeds the whole 'I don't care' or I'm not interested in politics' attitude, which politicians and democrat groups seem totally bemused by and whine on about affecting most of our youth cultures today. The sheer irony when they turn around and ask 'Why aren't people into politics?'
In a horrible kind of twist, some of the youth culture out there are too busy now living and practising the same vacuous, self-serving lives that their peers are portraying.
Hope they are proud.
