I would check with a member of his family that you know. Your mate may well have appreciated the gesture and it's a lovely sentiment, I would want to make sure that his closest family share the sentiment. Just run it by them as something you would like to do in his honour.

A friend of mine died at the age of 22 and was a massive arsenal fan- all the Paul bearers wore arsenal shirts- was actually a really nice touch

wore the shirt and there were a few others in them including his sister and daughter so glad i went with it now, again thanks guys.

Sad to hear it mate. If my mates turned up in Everton shirts to my funeral, I'd be made up. Friend died at 36 few years ago and his family requested we wore footy shirts as he loved and lived the game.
