I’ve watched two HMRC webinars on it....I’m more mystified than I was before. Top and bottom of it is that you probably need an ‘agent’ who has the knowledge and software to load declarations on the govt portal and you need to supply a lot more info about the goods you’re importing/exporting. You need to have an EORI Number (if you’re VAT registered you’ve likely got one) with a GB prefix....and if you do any shipping in/out of Northern Ireland you need an additional EORI Number with an XI prefix.I am in the same boat. It is to do with import/export from Jan 1st to EU.
Vague hope that someone on here has some experience.

There’s PDF’s on www.gov.uk website of the webinars....that’s tomorrow’s job....try and get my head around it.
What I’ve learned is essentially it’s going to take up a lot of valuable time that could be better used elsewhere in the business...there’ll be stacks of admin required, it will be of zero benefit to your business and it’ll cost a fortune to administer.
But never mind, Boris has advised that Britain will be booming even if there’s a no deal scenario come midnight on NYE.
Do you do business with Art Vandelay?Well, thats what I can an answer.
I spent hours on this yesterday, on the HMRC pages and didn't get as much info as you just gave, thanks, it is much appreciated.
I have an EORI number but think I will get away without the DAN as I only really export and, even then, non-excisable stock.
Agreed, another Boris master-stroke.
