Afternoon guys, bit of a long shot here but trying to help my brother out who has moved to sydney working for 6 months and after being there for only 3 days is already feeling it a bit and he rang me up earlier really down and looking for help. He needs some accommodation as he was staying in a hotel however the bloke he was staying with has done one so he now only has 3 days to find some accommodation. Anyone on here got any experience in working in sydney and where to stay for that length of time. Any ideas welcome. Also those of you who have been to sydney can you recommend any great places to go as i think one of his problems is he is not getting out and about as i think he is staying in his hostel feeling sorry for himself. Any ideas would be appreciated. Cheers

2 of my friends literally just moved out there doing the same thing. I'll get on the old facey b and find out what they are doing and see if I can point you in any directions. Sorry if I can't though mate. I'll let you know asap.

That would be ace mate, just feels like i am doing something for him, he went out there not feeling the best and was really looking forward to it, Cheers

One of my squadron mates from a few years back is in Australia. Will hit him up as well.

Okay, so my mate is in Townsville, Queensland. Quite a trip to Sydney. Told him the deal and he is going to try to get in touch with some people he knows to get some info. Sorry it is like third person, but still gonna give it a go. Hope all is well for him. Gotta be different.(understatement)

cheers mate really is appreciated. Will probably not speak to our kid till tomorrow anyway due to the time difference. Thanks once again.

I stayed in a backpackers in Kings Cross, not ideal really if there to work, we did but it was just non stop party the rest of the time.

He might get a sexy backpacker bird to kiss his wang though !!

Really sorry bro. One is in university accomodation (she's studying out their for a year), and the other one is in Cairns at the moment and isn't going to Sydney for another couple of months. Sorry couldn't be any more help man. Good luck to your bro. I know how he feels. I went out to work in Norway and I didn't feel great about it about a week before I went and ended up coming home after a month. I'm sure it'll be different though. Australia is much more like our culture, they speak English as a first language and he won't have to face getting up at 7am every ****ing day to walk into the -28C doing a **** PR job. Hope he keeps his chin up. He's just really gotta get out there and talk to people. Being English does help in these circumstances. Unless your in a European country, people are interested in you and want to talk to you so I'm sure if he gets out and about he'll find people who can help him. G.O.T wishes him luck!

Cheers for asking around mate it's why a love this forum people always offering help and advice when and where they can. Things looking up for him a bit more now. Just spoken to him via Skype and he has got himself a studio apartment sorted out there now and he moves in tomorrow so he is really looking forward to that now so he is a lot more optimistic. Thanks once again to everyone.
