Lobby the club to pay the living wage

There are many problems here though. Up the minimum wage to living wage, and someone has to fit the bill for the difference. Secondly, anyone on, say minimum wage +£2 (because they hold a higher skilled job than the minimum wage folk) will want/expect a wage increase to living wage +£2 as well. And then the folk on minimum wage +£4 will expect living wage +£4 etc etc.

It would be mental.

But that's only true when the difference in wages is of a similar size to the raise in wages. If I, McDonalds grunt, get my pay upped from £6-£8 per hour then my boss, McDonalds Supervisor, might want his £8 wage to be increased to £10. His boss earns more than that, but still might feel that the pay differential no longer reflects his work so maybe he gets a raise. But the manager still earns 6k more than him so he doesn't care. 3 people on crappy wages get slightly less crappy wages, McDonalds survives.

And there's no such thing as a free market economy! At least not in reality.

I fully back Everton to start paying the living wage, with all the silly money in football it only seems fair enough. If the soulless drones at Chelsea can look deep into their small mass of calcified heart tissue and do it then I'm sure we can.
