Sorry, all the other threads mentioning this place have been closed. Going for 3 days this October- 3 lads for my birthday (done most other big euro cities and wanted a cheaper, and less mad weekend). Any recommendations?

It's a small city. Theres a squatted ex army barracks full of bars and music venues that's okay if a bit snobby. Theres a cool lake nearby with a church on an island in the middle you can take a short ish bus ride too. Beautiful place, very quiet and relaxing.
 

Great city. Small and quite compact. We took a river tour, lasted about 1.5hrs and gave a bit of history about the place. Castle is also a must see and plenty of bars around the three bridges.
Just beware of the underwaterman!

Thank you! Gonna try to make a trip to Lake Bled one of the days. The underwaterman?

So is much of Wales.
 
It's a lovely city and Lake Bled is definitely worth a visit.
Have you watched the 48 hours travel man programme? Eddie Izzard visited Ljubjana with that comedian whose name I've forgotten. Well worth a watch.
