I've had the idea for a while but now I'm at a point due to one or two personal things where I'm in a position to do it with a relatively decent amount of start-up money, if I choose the right place.

I know this isn't very specific but I'd genuinely appreciate any advice on places, possibility of finding jobs/work, quality of life or even just what it's like to be away from your family and not go the match when you want etc, etc.

I've always had the idea of opening a little bar next to a beach somewhere like Thailand, but I appreciate that's not the most realistic thing in the world.

Cheers in advance! Ste

One of my friends was telling me that he is trying to open a bar in Thailand and it will take 30k, sounds great if it works i cannot see it though.

I have worked and lived in the US and Australia both great countries, alot depends on your age, qualifications, how much money you have in the bank with regards to Visa's.

Spoke with a friend the other day who is going to Canada said he got a visa simply as he is under 31, don't know how true that is .

Where do you fancy?

Somewhere with a different pace of life I think. I feel as though I'm constantly being taken advantage of/ripped off in this country.

I'd like it to be hot too if I'm honest but It's not a deal breaker.

I reckon things are gunna go badly adam in this country if the Tories get another term and as a scouser who works for local government I'll be copping for most of it.

ask chico , he has been loads of places working, should be able to get a few tips off him, foxy has worked in oz and south africa as well

If you want to earn loads, reckon you are best off heading to Norway and selling lots of scarfs and flags.

The Economist Intelligence Unit produce an annual 'best places to live' list, and whilst I don't have the link off hand, the top 10 this year had places like Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Norway and Sweden in it.

I think Nik should become a Somali pirate until he's ready to settle. No advice for Ste', tho'. Do you have any hobbies you could convert in to something?

I also would like advice on this.

I have no money, but I dont want a career job yet.

What do I do?

Yet ?

Are you implying that one day you might grow up and become an adult ?
Don't do it lad, it's overrated.

Err anyway, jack your job in this Spring and get a one way ticket to somewhere warm and work your way round Southern Europe. Do a Chico and live on a beach for a couple of months and finger anything that moves.

TEFL.

If you have a degree you can probably get a job in S. Korea, although in the last year or two the market there has become mildly competitive for the first time. For Korea you'll need to save (or get a loan of) about US$1,200-1,500 to pay for your flight (which will be refunded, but not immediately, or even quickly) and for a month of living expenses before your first paycheck.

Jobs in China, Vietnam, Thailand and a bunch of other great countries are pretty easy to get, but the pay will be quite a bit less. In those countries, the pay will be enough to live more comfortably than the locals, but may not be enough to save much.

Working Holiday Visa In Australia. Although when it bites there it bites, so if theres unemployment then the temp work dries up quick, it was pretty good when we were there and we saved tons whilst working, and only bettered by Holland really. Travelled loads on what we saved.
New Zealand do a working holiday visa as well, if you had a trade you could emigrate pretty much straight away cos of the earthquake damage. They are short of all kinds of people because folk have left, they reckoned the city may not be able to function as they wouldn't have the necessary people, people lost everything so they packed a bag and went to Oz or the North Island with no intention of returning.
