Did anyone see it? What's the story behind it ?

It's a follow on from the same company 2 years ago who commemorated the Titanic. This one is for WW1 being 100 next month.

Basically a French company has closed a load of roads off causing chaos in the city for a puppet show, but I do understand that the city benefits from stuff like this.

I just don't get it. Understand the spectacle etc, but the whole economic argument doesn't stack up for me.

Big fat meh...... #bigmizzo

it is a fantastic spectacle, and it all first came about from "La Princesse" the big spider that showed up for the capital of culture back in 2008

I had a rather heated discussion with someone on regards whether it's actually "culture" or not, he soon came around to my way of thinking in that contemporary street art/performance is essentially culture

but it's a fkn pain in the hoop when they close all the roads off, for a whole weekend FFS

do they really need to walk across most of central Liverpool ???

Is it too hard for people to walk across central Liverpool? You should enjoy the freedom of a car-free city whilst you get a chance.

I saw the Sultan's Elephant, which was their first project, in London many years back, and it was amazing. Seeing swarms of people dashing down The Mall following the puppets was great. A top day out.

I just googled it, a story of a couple, Jack Currie goes off to War as volunteer in the Liverpool Pals.

He survives and later marries his sweatheart.

Looks a great spectacle.

Funny what can make you homesick even after nearly 30 years away from the City....

car free city is fine mate, and I'd love that to be a permanent thing, but unfortunately it is too difficult to walk across central Liverpool when it's occupied by crowds of thousands

don't get me wrong mate, I haven't got a problem with the giants and stuff, it's once every couple of years and as has been pointed out it's really good for the city

but there are just as many people who are inconvenienced by it as there are who are enjoying the day out

I can take it or leave it TBH

I'd love the giants to do the Bill Kenwright story. It's coming up to the 60th anniversary of Bill's first appearance on the boys pen.

I'd like to see a giant Bill on the handlebars of his giant Grandad Albert's giant bike trundling along the streets between Kensington and Walton.
