This has been known for a while now, but it's starting to get more publicity due to the womens' season starting soon. Everton Ladies vs Liverpool Ladies is live on ESPN this Saturday night at 7:30pm.

Basically, Arsenal Ladies have been boss for years, with Everton Ladies being their nearest challengers.

Liverpool Ladies have been utter garbage, finishing bottom of the league the last two years and only avoiding relegation because there is no relegation, instead 3 year franchises come up for renewal at the end of this coming season. So if they had another bad season, they'd be almost certainly thrown out.

Two major things happened though - Everton's long serving manager Mo Marley left after a decade in charge to take a post with the FA.

More significantly, Liverpool FC decided to bring the Ladies team in-house and bank roll them (Everton Ladies are loosely affiliated with Everton FC, but receive no money from the club ). This led to Liverpool Ladies luring several of Everton's best players away in Faye Williams and Natasha Dowie.

There's a story about it here:

It is all to do with the 'brand', they think it will lessen their standing globally.

yeah heard about them nabbing all our players. did our ladies leave for them for financial reasons only then?

Almost certainly. They left one of the highest placed teams in us (3rd) to go to the team that's finished bottom of the league for the last 2 years. Reading that article, the likes of Dowie are going on about how Liverpool are really professional now.

It just seems like Liverpool are throwing a load of money at what was a problem area for them. Doesn't seem very fair, but then again, football never is these days.

Seems as good a thread as any for this picture of Rachel Unitt and me ever tedious claim of Mrs Jock having gone to high school with her.

Little sister used to play for them, We basically paid them for her to play. FFS. Sacked them off and moved to Everton, Wahey.

Who is your sister lid?

Pm me if you want to keep it hush like, just wondered if she's worth perving.
