We'd need a big investor for a bigger seater stadium to be viable. Our current board WILL not spend money on helping build a stadium that we wont sell out, lost revenue.

Yes, as I said, they offered us land, right in the middle of a City Centre that was about to have billions spent on it, they wanted the Staduim to be the showpiece, but we couldnt find the funds needed.
I still don't know how we cocked that up. I mean, i know HOW it happened, i just have no idea how it all got to that point. And how the entire board wasn't run out of town for that..

Mind, that's almost exactly when i started watching Everton/footy too. Even in my infancy of following i knew that was a big loss

Anthony Scott on Twitter - At the Liverpool council press conference today: Chief Executive Ged Fitzgerald: "We are hopeful of finding a sustainable solution for EFC."

Thanks for sharing that, we've only averaged more than 39,000 during a full season once in 40 years & we've only ever averaged over 50,000 once in our entire history.

Well thats me convinced.

We really are a small club with **** support.

And we should never ever get ideas above our station. EVER.

FFS..............Words fail me with people sometimes.

lol, I just stated facts, which were facts that didn't suit your lopsided argument, so you've retorted with a load of nonsense about our 'station'

You win mate, you're the better Blue, boss Blue you lad, coz you think we could fill a stadium the size of the moon, & we should have some real ambition & build something that we can aspire to huge in, with money that we've grown in Stanley Park. Crack on.

Now you're just being silly.

The facts around attendances & latent support have nothing to do with our current board, nor does 'conditioning' have anything to do with my opinion on the issue, so save the misplaced patronising comment mate.

I posted a link earlier in the thread about their waiting list for season tickets, the availability of small numbers of matchday tickets is irrelevant to that. The confirmed 25K on that list gives them a near certainty of being able to sell all of the additional seats as ST's, we do not have that luxury, we would have to rely on 'build it & they will come', which as a business plan to a funder might look a bit weak like.

To be fair, 25k wasn't confirmed. In fact that media release is an embarrassing joke!

A 70k waiting list that isn't a waiting list at all. They ask 25,000 of them if they are interested in a season ticket or not and then don't even tell you how many said yes or no

Not denying that they may have a demand for more tickets, but if there was ever any proof that the RS are full of **** when it comes to 'waiting lists' then it was that article.

That waiting list crap has always been a crock...anyone who wants a ticket for Analfield can get one....the amount of fly in tourist fans proves that.........

If they had 70k waiting they'd build the biggest stadium in the land, fact is they're talking about 60k capacity, sorta tells it's own story.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't fill that every game especially as they're turning into sh1te as we speak.

Just a note on our attendances historically EFC have form in understating match attendance figures, I recall one of the Everton books saying we'd been nailed by the taxman must have been early 1900s for just such shenanigans.

Anyone going around the 70s era before seating and when capacity was 55k will tell you they'd announce the attendance as say 35k and you'd lok round laughing wondering where the fook they'd shoe horn another 20k in - you couldn't move.

i Remember Constantly being told by the top brass it Was All about Corporate Facilities , Executive Boxes etc why we could no longer compete and were we fell short to our rivals , It was Used as one of the major selling points used in the kirby stadium move debacle (as well as goodison being ready to fall down amongst others) , but now points are switching to seat numbers and wether they would be filled or not. :confused2:

There was always that suspicion then. And as you say, stood there packed in like sardines, you'd have a wry smile when they announced the attendance......

I remember the same with Peter Johnson in charge during the mid to late 90's. Swear to go some of them attendances were just not true. Me and the arl fella used tos it in the Park End and could easily see the rest of the ground being 99% full, the attendance would come over the tannoy at 30k haha

Fiddling the tax man or cash on the turnstiles "one for you, one for me "take your pick, but there was defo dodgy attendances being declared
