Weird that isn't it. Google translate does produce some ace translations though.

A nerd acquaintance was talking to me about something called KDE which is supposedly decent, but I haven't messed with Linux for a while (Ubuntu a while back, couldn't say what the state of that is now) so I couldn't confirm.

Still though, got to say it, Windows 7 is worth the money and I struggle to see why anyone wouldn't go with it. It dominates the OS game.

KDE is just the interface/desktop (K Desktop Environment)...not the OS. Linux is all about preference so I can't really suggest anything other than to do your research on all the distros out there.
