Just posted before on twitter - "Can I clear this up? Everton were the best club side I played for. I have not forgotten them. I have nothing but respect for EFC #greatclub".

For those who hate him for not mentioning us or whatever.

Sorry mate

No need to be sorry, mate. Just a random fume! Good that he understands the quality of the side he played in.

For total clarity I am talking about the quality of the side I played in at that time. Which is the biggest club? I'll leave you to decide

RT @zoolander10: @GaryLineker what made you leave EFC? If you would of stayed the future could of been so different < They sold me!

Sold by the Carter regime, continuing the long-standing policy of selling our best players whenever a decent profit is there to be made.

How we won the league the next season was a miracle and was largely down to Inchy stepping up.

Nee nawwwneeeenawwwwww neeee nawww its the grammar police!

Better than Barcelona?

that's exactly what came to my mind too, our team from 1986 would no doubt have made great strides in Europe had we been allowed to play in the European Cup, Barcelona made the final that year.

Would have been very interesting us against Barca at some point ...

He does go on to mention there is room for discussion of who was the biggest v the best club team, I feel he is just reassuring fans he is viewed as very dismissive of EFC. Very disingenuous

Lineker has always said that Everton was "probably" the best club side he played in, and that includes Barca.
Wish we never sold him, even if we did win the league the following year. Imagine if he had had a 5 year career with us.

That season belonged to Kendall for me (and maybe Paul Power). Due to injuries, we never once played a full strength side that season and yet won the league by nine points. Happy times.
