Just been re-watching my Life On Mars (Gene Hunt is God) 2 season DVD set. I have to admit I pine a bit for the seventies - things were simpler then. What were your 5 things that you remember of the 70's? This thread is for old f**kers like me really.

Mine:
(1) Arsenal winning the fa cup in 1979.
(2)Mr Men, Mr Benn, The Clangers, Dougal And The Magic Roundabout, Marine Boy, Bionic Man.
(3)My dad's yellow Toyota that came equiped with ultra modern tape deck that played tapes the size of bricks.
(4)Smithicks and Red Lemonade shandies.
(5)A big Ice Cream cake at my 7th birthday party.

1: Thanks to Marc Bolan and Led Zeppelin discovering that music could lift my soul like nothing else could
2: Bob Latchford
3: Packing in the 9 till 5 and getting my first job working full time as a roadie
4: My first taste of European away games (thanks dad), 70/71 European Cup. Keflavik, Monchengladbach & Panathinaikos. The last one was a day trip and i remember after we got back to Liverpool we had to wait for the first train to Crewe, got home did my paper round and went to school. I fell a sleep in the last class of the day which was in an annex building and the basterds (teacher as well) left me, cleaner woke me at half 5 with a note from the teacher giving me a weeks detention.
5: Losing my virginity, it was over very quickly, i was crap but glad to say i got a lot better at it with practise

LMFAO - losing your virginity and being crap at it. I can trump that a 100 times over; there is no way you were worse than me - oh, man, I was so bad first time I was told to get off and stop wasting her time -- be a good thread that, losing your virginity. Bloody horrible experience, and chicks think they hold court on that one. No way. They only have to lie there; us, we have to gain some wood, bloody hard (no pun intended) when you're 14 and the local **** is saying hurry up. Cool list, man - you have a few years on me. I remember Bob Latchford, he was ace for Swansea and Everton.

Newcastle Brown in the Poly bar
The Babaloo
Martin Dobson
My first stereo (mind blowing sound!)
Holidays in Cornwall

My dad had those big tapes in the car - cartridges I think they were called?

1. Being amazed that a LP had one song on one side. (Foxtrot)
2. Being amazed that a LP had no lyrics for ages. (Dark side of the moon)
3. Loving Wings, then finding out that The Beatles were better.
4. Terry Jacks, "Seasons in the sun"
5. The Jam on TOTP doing David Watts.

Oh, and Bristol City getting promoted to Div 1 in 1976. (Search my threads for clarification of my dual nationality!), probably tops the lot!
