Second episode just finishing on BBC3 now. If this isnt one of the best documentaries ever seen on British television, then I would like to see the ones better than it.

Haven't watched it so can't really comment. However, I'd imagine there's been documentaries made on far more interesting topics.

It is the way its done though - the first episode was about two of the youngest men on death row and what they had done, the second was about the trial of a man accused of beating seven family members to death. Both of them have been absolutely compelling, and not at all what one imagines a BBC documentary about the death penalty would be like. Great, great television.

I'll download this on the iplayer when it's available. Nice one.

Watched about half of this now.

I completely refuse to accept that one man could kill 8 people in such a confined space with no signs of restraint and only a blunt weapon. Drugs can make you strong, but they don't turn you into the Hulk.

This, no way he did it, and if he did he wasn't alone.

Felt so sorry for his brother though.

Ridiculous.

How people can support the death penalty is beyond me ffs. How can it be beyond all reasonable doubt that one man killed 8 people with a blunt weapon and no definite physical evidence. Had that juror not been removed he'd be on death row.

I can understand it when someone goes on a rampage killing 60 odd kids like that Norwegian like. But I know what you mean.

The thing I found maddest was when the foreman of the jury said something like "well if we are talking about police mistakes, well that was an open and shut case, but they arent the ones on trial". There was quite a bit of forensic evidence against him though, and the defence seemed a bit weak.

Also according to the internets the entire trial including deliberation took 10 days. The jury selection took 3 weeks.

O tempora o mores.
