Kenwright promises signings to placate Moyes and fans
BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Everton | Kenwright says signings to arrive

We Will Back The Manager
Keith Wyness On The Transfer Budget says: "We are keeping it close to our chest at the moment. Bill Kenwright is chatting with David every day and we are well aware that we have got to build on the success we have had. As we have done in the last few years, we will support David to make the squad the best it can be. In the transfer window I am speaking to agents all the time. Nine out of ten don't come to anything, but you have to be speaking and know what is in the market place." (16/05/08)
A quote from Wyness.

Keith Wyness has said it will help in signing better players that Everton are in the UEFA cup again this season.
Bully says: “It was vital that we got back into Europe again next season. You can’t underestimate the importance of being able to offer that when you make new signings. Again, in terms of the sponsorship and commercial opportunities that we are trying to capitalise on and the revenue the extra games generate, we need it as a club. This is the level that we want to be competing at. We know that we’ve got something that is good and moving forward.” (24/05/08)
Another one from Kenwright's sidekick Wyness.

Everton CEO, Keith Wyness is on the phone every day trying to buy Moyesy's targets. It is a slow transfer window so far, but with Everton in Europe again will have a big baring on which players join Everton.
Bully says: "The whole transfer market, each one is different in terms of the mood and tempo. Hardly anything has happened. There’s not much activity – there’s more managers moving than there are players right now. It’s a slow market. We know the manager and his targets but a lot of things have to happen to get deals for the types of players we are looking for. Every day we are on the phone.
The fans have seen over the last four years that we have delivered and there is an acceptance that we understand what we’ve got – but we have to improve on it and keep on going. But it is too early for getting anxious. It’s huge to be in Europe – we’ve been there three years out of four that I’ve been here which is isn’t bad. It’s important to be in that draw and get more mentions all round the world.
You have to be a winning team and we have been to a degree and that is very important. A football club has to win on the pitch and it all comes together. I’ve never seen a business that has an accelerator that goes up and down so quickly. The Premier League gets harder every year. If you look at all the stats, we average ninth or 10th things like revenues and attendances yet here we are finishing fifth and punching above our weight in a lot of areas. It isn’t easy and handling those expectations is certainly very difficult.” (04/06/08)
Oh, look, another quote from Kenwright and his brigade.

Moyesy's transfer budget, whatever it is, will not be affected by the fate of the proposed new stadium in Kirkby. It had been reported that if the Kirkby project was 'called in' then this would have an influence on the manager's transfer chest.
Ian Ross, Everton’s Head of Public Relations & External Affairs, says: “This is completely untrue. These are absolutely separate issues. They always have been and they always will be. The Government’s decision (on the Kirkby project) won’t have any impact on the manager’s transfer budget.” (01/07/08)
Even more.

Bill Kenwright says: “The real problem this close season is that apart from Steven Pienaar we actually have not signed any new players. I just want to pull off one deal, just one of the transfers we have been chasing for the last six weeks. That would be a start, and then the next one, and next one. But there are four, five or even six deals out there at the moment that we are hourly trying to catch.” (07/08/08)

Im not trying to defend BK as I really think he should go now, but why if David Moyes had been promised money by BK, then to be told there wasnt any, would he really stay? Would he come out and say we are still trying to sort something out before the deadline?
All im saying is either Moyes knew the score and lied with BK and I so hope thats not true, or Moyes didnt know and we will see the repercussions of that in the coming weeks??

just listening to the footy show on 5 live, there's some bloke on it who knows the royal family of abu dhabi who've just bought man city. He said they were looking at 3 clubs to buy in the prem, arsenal, city and newcastle. they choose city cause they wanted to take a sleeping giant and make it massive. They thought Arsenal was already to far in that direction, newcastle they didnt fancy so they decieded on city. Its not money theyre interested in. If they made £500 mil it would be nothing to them(theyve got more money than abramovitch) they're just doing it for the fun of it, they love footy!

The point here is this bloke said when they looked into buying a prem club only the 3 clubs mentioned were for sale. So i take it they been in touch with BK and he's said no. So much for looking for new owners! Im starting to believe BK is actually full of [Poor language removed] and im just another mug evertonian!

I think you've missed the point.

It's not down to the fact Bill doesn't want to sell... its the fact that, despite having a fantastic manager and a half(!) decent team, we're not an attractive club to buy. The Arabs who've bought city know they've got a fantastic new ground and not much debt, so all their dosh can go into playing real life footy manager and buy Ronaldo, Robinho etc.

Anyone buying our club has to sort the ground out and sort our debt out first. No fun at all to your average gazillionnaire.

I agree that for some investors the ground is deffo a stumbling block but from the interview I heard last night it seems the city investors wouldnt be put off by that, in fact quite the opposite. The whole idea was to rebuild the club from scratch and not buy a ready made finished article ie arsenal. Anyway it was also mentioned that this story is coming out today and I think it was in one of the papers (cant remember which) and the guy said the other clubs that weren't interested will be named, so hopefully we'll find out more later!

I'm under the impression we could sell if we wanted to. Even if we had the nobs that run the [Poor language removed] next door, at least they have more money, more ambition than we have now.

Cieh would've had more debt than us before they were taken over. Even if they didnt those Arabs were looking at Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle 1st -- all clubs in excess of £200mill in debt, far more than we have. They were willing to take that oboard. The texans over at the [Poor language removed] took them over knowing they might have to build a new 300mill stadium forcing further debt.

Citeh have had 2 billionaire owners in less than a year even when their neighbours are one of the biggest clubs in the world. And we cant get investment? Bullshit. Citeh woke up one morning in almost financial ruin under Takshin. They next day they're one of the richest clubs in the world, have more money than Chelsea and just threw £35million for Robiniho.

I'm a fan of Bill, or was because this transfer window has been an embarrassment. I still think we're short of players (another creative midfielder would've been nice), and these signings will just put us where we were before and not push us forwards.

I've changed my mind about him. He needs to sell and sell now. We're the only club in the top 10 who havent been bought out. We cant survive another season like this (if we survive this season that is).

We cant compete. AT. ALL. The top 10 clubs all have more resources, players and above all money. Citeh's take over just put a nail in what Moyes has done for the club. I dont think he can do it anymore. He needs money. Money we aint got.

Change is needed.
