Thursday and Sunday eh?The Old Lady hasn't rocked much this season and we all know its been down to poor tactics/performances/results etc,but whatever we think about the team/manager,OUR club needs us behind it next week, the players/management will move on,we will remain, its hard to put it into words IMHO how pivotal these two games are,COYB.

Unfortunatly we have too many fans who bought into the "we only sing when were winning" nonsense, its sad to say but i fully expect next Sunday to just be like the rest of the season has been, toxic and on the players backs.

It's a difficult situation. The fans are disillusioned and there is a lack of confidence which is tangible around the stadium during matches.

When we have scored this season there hasn't raucous celebrations, but rather a restrained feeling of relief mixed with visible concern.

How are our defence going to cope with the expected onslaught? Will we crumble at the back? Will we ever be able to finish off a team?

It doesn't help when the football is so tepid and some of the decisions have been bordering on ludicrous. People are nervous and it shows.

I think we all want to have the grandiose and aggressive atmosphere back that we know Goodison can produce, but people are too worried.

As a gentlemen who sits near to me mentioned, 'It's not enjoyable being at Goodison at the moment. It's almost tedious'. Think back a year...

I wholeheartedly agree that we should be getting behind the lads, however it's hard as good performances help build atmosphere.

Maybe our expectations have been forced too high after last season: are we expecting too much and that's restraining our support?

Also, is it complacency on our behalf? For too long have our fans been unable to grasp that we've been in a relegation tussle to some degree.

Now that we certainly are, we need to build some atmosphere and support more than ever, yet equally the players need to inspire the fans.

Like with the players and manager scenario, we're in a vicious cycle where people seem unable to budge. Personally it's worrying.

A couple of wins at home, combined with good performances (which we've lacked all season) will make the world of difference to how we react.

Unfortunately, it seems somewhat difficult to imagine such a run and that therefore begins to fuel the fires of discontent and concern.

As @4737carlin mentioned, the atmosphere has became toxic. Maybe that's what worries me the most, as it's the worst it's been in a long time.

Better luck trying to get blood from a stone mate.

Can't go on like that though mate, the place needs lifting,I know people will say its up to the players but we as fans have a massive role to play,if we went down I know I myself would feel culpable in however small a way for being so passive this term, which I have been for my sins.

i wouldn't feel culpable if we went down, just p*ssed off with the mgt + players, but totally agree we should get behind them, whatever is happening on the pitch, at least until we get across the line

To be honest, the Everton fans away at Stoke weren't great and I've been to numerous games this season at home, most of them had a terrible atmosphere with only a little bit of chanting.

Goodison Park has been getting worse as the years go by, I don't know whether this is to do with the fans not liking Martinez, not enough passion by the players, a lack of a singing section - but it needs to be resolved.

Stoke City didn't even have a sell out, yet their home support was truely impressive and they were singing even when it looked like Everton was getting back into the game or at 0-0. That's what Goodison should be like, support even through the tough times.. we should be the 12th man, not making it a graveyard.
