He could become a solid CB option for us, but from what I've seen so far he either lacks pace, or else his reactions are not as quick as Yobo & Lescott - both Zenit and Fulham got behind him and needed Lescott/Yobo to cover. That's my concern with him and Stubbs - the lack of pace would likely cause us to defend too deep, like when we had W&S back there. So I'd be happier with Lescott and either Jags or Stubbs at CB while Yobo's away - meaning we need Valente fit until Baines returns.

Breaking news on sky sports is that he will be out up to 6 weeks. Devestating news for us as valente is not yet ready for action an stubbs still out for 4 weeks.

We had a fully fit squad for all of 1 week.

To be honest I know this sort of injure from experience would easiler have taken 4 weeks to recover, so I have been expecting this news, look at it this way at least we did expect him to come back before AFC starts, and with the number of matches we have to play this season, he could have been out when he is most needed!

And actually Valente and Hibbert are both ready to come back for West Ham match tmr!
