New Leicester Training Campus

I know our focus is well above this lot and we just brushed them aside nice and easily, however it's worth noting the extent to which their owners seem to be building for the long term. These plans are genuinely impressive, arguably better than anything the top 6 currently possess.

The league seems to be going crazy with regards to training ground investments at present. Largely it is just teams bringing their facilities up to standard with early pioneers like us but if the likes of Leicester are going to raise the bar to this degree it will probably necessitate a response sooner or later at Finch Farm.

Finch Farm needs to be upgraded already, it’s lagging behind a lot of clubs now and I expect it’s high up on Moshri’s to do list.

I like Leicester. They’re a good example of a team that’s come back up and then spent money to stay in the league and gradually improve. We’re buzzing about winning their precisely because they’re a decent team. I hate the prem when you’re either getting battered by the top 6 or you’re expected to win easily so anything other than a win is a huge annoyance. The prem needs more good midtable teams like Leicester rather than just a dross bottom 12 or 13.

Makes no difference if the training ground simulates playing on the moon or in virtual reality or famous scientists working there.

If the players are crap on the pitch it won't change a thing

It's a fair point but facilities certainly help.

Having access to a full sized indoor pitch is the difference between training normally or not on a day like today. Having access to a full suite of rehab facilities can be the difference between being fit for the weekend 6 pointer or sitting in the stands.

Similarly they can help attract players. If two teams of a similar level are willing to meet your wage demands it's a fair bet the standard and ambience of the usual place of work will factor into your decision making. Likewise for parents when selecting the academy of choice for their kids.

Nothing Leicester are doing here has any immediate direct bearing on us but if the likes of Newcastle and West Ham follow the Leicester path then that equation would start to change. Both are apparently developing plans.

Anyway, posted originally for information rather than as a call to action. We can at least comsole ourselves with the knowledge that Finch Farm remains better than Melwood.
