The city, not the club

Thoughts? Praise? Concerns? Warnings? Suggestions? Resentments? Anecdotes? Commiserations?

I might be moving there in a few months

Not been there since the '90's and some of my mates were students there. It was pretty good back then, The Orbit was one of my all time favourite nights out.

Like most major cities these days the centre is good, the nightlife is great, there's some nice areas in and around it, but it's full of the worst wools on the planet.

In Leeds they only support Leeds United and the BNP.

They don't like anyone outside of Leeds, even fellow Yorkies.

I've had a few hairy nights out in Leeds and I've never felt safe there.

At the 1980 semi final replay at Elland Road, a group of West Ham fans stepped into stop me and my dad getting a spanking off a mob of Leeds fans - I was thirteen !

It's a massive no from me.

GREAT NEWS

Nightlife is definitely boss now. I went to see Southport away at Guiseley earlier in the season and my train back to London wasn't until late evening so I went out to a few bars. The fanny was top notch, too.

Seriously I hate the place.

I went out with a Scouse girl who was student there and we got nothing but grief from the locals, even though she lived in a student area. The locals were fully prepared to fill her and me in for no other reason than our accents.

In the end we gave up on the city centre and drank only in student pubs.

Its got to be one of the most punchy and aggressive places in the UK.

My missus is from York - twenty miles away and you may as well be on another planet.[/QUOTE]

I'm a local. it's basically not quite as beautiful as people but with an enhanced city centre. Full of financial institutions.
