Leeds United: GFH to be confirmed as new owners

The takeover of Championship club Leeds United by GFH Capital is set to be confirmed at an 11:30 GMT news conference at Elland Road.

The Dubai-based equity company will become a 100% shareholder.

Current owner Ken Bates is expected to remain as chairman until the end of the season, before becoming club president.

GFH executive David Haigh told the club website: "We are delighted, but also honoured and proud to be the new owners of Leeds United Football Club."

He took a place on the club's board earlier this month and will be joined by colleagues Salem Patel and Hisham Alrayes.

GFH has been supporting Leeds financially since entering into an exclusivity period to conclude negotiations about its proposed investment.

"We have had over 4,000 emails of support from fans and we have been overwhelmed by the reaction," Haigh added.

Will be interesting to see if this helps the club back to the Premiere League, or if they're another Venkys group.

What did they pay,I heard it was 50 million, and if that's right then no wonder Bill is finding it hard to snag a buyer if the price being banded about for us is double that

Triple.

150m he wants.

It's f***ing madness.

They've got a better stadium with a very viable expansion opportunity and are only a few players away from being back in the Prem anyway.

It will most likely cost them less to get Leeds into the position we are in than it would cost buying us for that price.

Bill also said no one is buying football clubs these days and our ground is holding back any investor.

Come on mate, they bought the Club for 20m, invested ZERO, sold all the assets, saddled it with massive debts with silly repayments, its only fair they make a 130m profit.

Can't argue with some of the points here. I will say that a private equity firm buying a football club isn't necessarily the best situation, they'll get their $50 million back in spades.

The internet will be crashed by Evertonians the day Kenwright finally ****s off. 13 years in charge next Monday. 13 years and not one English penny invested.

He's remortgaged his house seven times lad.
