Lee Carsley, Fans Deserve Europe

Always loved Carsley and wouldn't mind him being a potential staff member at Everton in the future.

Anway he's been talking to TalkSport today...

This year
"They've just gotta try and finish in Europe again, I think a club of that size with that fanbase deserves to be playing European football".

Lack of investment
"I think David Moyes is more than capable of motivatating that group of players. I remember when we sold Wayne Rooney to Manchester United and we brought in Tim Cahill and Marcus Bent which no-one had heard of and we finished fourth. So the motivation is when they've got their back to the walls".

Why does Everton have poor starts?
"It has for the past few seasons and I'm sure that's what the gaffer and all the staff is making an effort to do. I know they've changed their pre-season a bit and they've been in America this season and that might make a difference".

There are times I wish we had Carsley back in our midfield. You know, during those games against the teams we should be beating but nobody takes authority in the middle for us. Carsley was a modern dog of war.

It's very nice to hear he's still taking an interest and saying positive things.
Might inspire the lads a little bit, but even me and my infinite amounts of optimism aren't counting on anything above 7th this season.

He struggled against the big clubs but when he was in the side we almost always got W's against the sides we were supposed to get 3 pts from. And that's been our problem since he left, we stand up to the likes of Man City Chelsea, Spurs etc now and struggle against the likes of Wigan and West Brom.
